SEACON Shares Cutting-Edge Approach for the Oceanographic Market at 2016 Oceanology International

TE Connectivity product line focuses on exploration of underwater connection technologies

Members of the media are invited to visit TE Connectivity (TE) at their SEACON booth #C650 at the 2016 Oceanology International Conference and Exhibition, to discuss its latest strategies on where the oceanographic market is headed for the next three to five years.

The oceanology sector continues to focus on the development of data, testing theories, inshore and offshore exploration, and under-ice and deep-sea drilling ─ all of which reveal interesting opportunities for science and industry.

New oceanology discoveries are illustrated by the research at the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS). According to Dr. Stephen Slocombe, the SAMS report lead author, these findings have unlocked a treasure chest of ‘super-algae’ that could provide a previously untapped source of oil. Other advancements, include deep-sea tsunami detection and the use of plankton for biofuels, in order to reduce plastic pollution.

An example of the technologies designed and built for this type of exploration and experimentation is TE’s SEACON 55 dry-mate connector series. The connectors have been developed for a variety of applications, including remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), umbilicals, underwater cameras and diver communications. The SEACON 55 series benefits from a design incorporating features, such as gold plated contacts with MULTILAM interface technology. The product line also boasts industry standard compatibility and reliable sealing technology.

SEACON remains a part of the ever growing stable of brands that make up TE within the marine oil and gas, environmental, defense and oceanographic markets, which also includes brands such as DEUTSCH Offshore, Rochester Wire & Cable, AST and Raychem. Products from these brands will also be featured at SEACON’s booth.

TE engineers will be available to discuss connectivity solutions for the oceanographic market at their booth throughout the show.
